Hank Ballard (above) ignited what was probably the world's most colossal dance craze when he wrote The Twist.  Originally released in 1959, the song was only a modest hit for Ballard, but when Chubby Checker recorded his own version a year or so later, it quickly zoomed to the top of the charts.

On the right is the house at 665 Aline Drive NW where Ballard lived after he and his wife Helen settled in Atlanta, her hometown.

John H. Kendricks was Ballard's birth name.

The house above is not Ballard's only connection to Atlanta.  Following his death in 2003, he was buried in SW Atlanta at Greenwood Cemetery.  Pictured on the right is his grave marker.
