The Peppermint Lounge must have been a short-lived Atlanta nightclub, as this is the only ad I've ever seen for it.

No doubt, Atlanta's Peppermint Lounge was inspired by the original Peppermint Lounge, located at 128 West 45th Street in Manhattan,  which unofficially served as headquarters for the rampant case of twist fever that swept the nation in 1961 and 1962.

In New York, Joey Dee and the Starlighters cranked out the twist numbers for nightclub patrons, while Atlanta's Peppermint Lounge featured the rhythm and blues efforts of Piano Red, a veteran local musician.  By April 1962 Piano Red had transplanted his twist act to Hank & Jerry's Hidaway at the corner of Peachtree & 10th Streets.  See the ad here.

Don't miss: the Peppermint Stix Lounge located on Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta.
