E.V. Camp Steel Works.

Believe it or not, this massive industrial steel plant was located on North Druid Hills Road.  It was located on property where 2 different apartment complexes now sit, The Preserve and Woodland Hills.  Even if you don't read the article, it's worth clicking on the page directly on the right to see an enlarged version of the photo.

Camp's original steel plant was at the intersection of Dekalb Avenue and Arizona Street, but when his steel guard rails became popular, he needed more space for a bigger facility.  This led him to purchase a 75 acre site on what is now North Druid Hills Road, though unfortunately the article does not specify exactly when this facility opened.

With the arrival of World War II, the plant converted its production to munitions and began manufacturing 250 lb. explosive bomb bodies.   Following the war, the plant returned to commercial production.  During the Korean War, Camp's plant manufactured a wide variety products for military use including bombs, tank armor for the Marines and various ship parts for the Navy.

I'm not sure when the plant closed down, but today it sure is hard to imagine such a heavily industrialized business operating on North Druid Hills Road.
