This postcard shows the home of John P. Gordon, built shortly after the turn of the twentieth century to replace a previous Gordon home that succumbed to fire. The Greek Revival home no longer exists, having been demolished in 1942, according to Franklin M. Garrett's Atlanta and Environs: A Chronicle Its People And Events, 1880s to 1930s. The home stood on land now occupied by the Horizons School and the Lake Claire Pool. Per the Garrett reference above, this area was once considered the northern edge of the Kirkwood neighborhood, but is considered to be the Lake Claire neighborhood these days.
