This photo shows a western view along Houston Street (now known as John Wesley Dobbs Avenue) toward the Rhodes-Haverty Building at 134 Peachtree Street.   This art deco influenced skyscraper was named for its developers, furniture magnates A.G. Rhodes and J.J. Haverty.  The 21 story  Rhodes-Haverty building became Atlanta's tallest structure upon its completion in 1929, narrowly edging out the Candler Building, which is located directly across Peachtree Street and is partially visible in this photograph.   It remained Atlanta's tallest building until 1959, when the Fulton National Bank on Marietta Street took the title.

The former Rhodes-Haverty building is now the Marriott Residence Inn  Atlanta-Downtown and  is seen here looking west along  John Wesley Dobbs Avenue (formerly Houston Street) toward Peachtree Street.

Just to the left of the former Rhodes-Haverty Building is the Candler Building and the dark structure towering above them both from behind is the Equitable Building.
