Thanks to reader Chris Jedenby for sending in the three 1980s photos appearing on this page. The first one, from 1986, looks toward the east from the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel, showing an area that's been extensively redeveloped since this picture was made. Highland Avenue is directly in front of the camera and that's Freedom Parkway to the right.

Below that are two 1989 photos of the downtown skyline taken from a car navigating the Downtown Connector, on its way to the airport.
