Featured here are 8 thumbnail images of vintage postcards (circa 1910 or so) of the Flatiron Building, located at 84 Peachtree Street (Google map) in downtown Atlanta.  Originally built as the English-American Building, this structure later became known as the Flatiron Building, a reference to the more famous Flatiron in New York City.  Despite the fact that we stole the name of the NY building, it's important to note that Atlanta's Flatiron predates New York's, which was not completed until 1901.

Atlanta's Flatiron was designed by Bradford Gilbert, who also served as the supervising architect of the 1895 Cotton States Exposition, held in Piedmont Park.

Wikipedia has a page on this building, where I learned that on the TV show Matlock, which was set in Atlanta, the lawyer played by Andy Griffith had his law offices in the Flatiron Building.  Despite this detail, the show was not filmed here in Atlanta, though they did use some occasional skyline shots of the city.
