Seen here is the extraordinary C & S bank that used to stand at the corner of North Avenue and West Peachtree.
According to the Atlanta Journal & Constitution it cost as much to demolish the 19-story building in 1993 ($4 million) as it did to construct it in 1967.
Regarding when the building was demolished, local history scholar David Henderson reports: "The C&S building came down in 1993. It wasn't demolished by implosion or wrecking ball. The unusual design (a concrete core with the floors hung on it like shelves) required it be dismantled floor by floor, a process that took nearly a year."
