Below is a postcard of the Bank Of Georgia building, located at 34 Peachtree Street, an image that comes from the Marcia P. archives.  Thanks, Marcia!  Known today as One Park Tower, the Bank Of Georgia building was completed in 1961 and at the time was Atlanta's tallest building.  In 1966 it was bumped to #2 by the First National Bank of Georgia, known today as 2 Peachtree Street.

When the building opened, it included a top floor restaurant called Top O' Peachtree.  Scroll down to see a couple of vintage ads for the restaurant.  And if you want to see what kind of view was possible from the Top O' Peachtree, check out any of these three photos taken by Lynn Harrington in 1961.      #1    #2    #3

In March 1969, Memphis native Snooky Lanson was the featured entertainer at the Top O' Peachtree supper club.  Lanson first rose to national prominence in 1941 when his vocals were featured the Ray Noble Band's hit recording of  By The Light Of The Silvery Moon.  From 1950 until 1957, Lanson was seen on weekly television as a featured vocalist on the NBC's Your Hit Parade.

According to the Wikipedia page for Your Hit Parade, "big band singer Snooky Lanson's weekly attempts to perform Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog" hit in 1956 hastened the end of the series."
