Yesterday's update about the long gone J - D Steak Ranch at 2214 Stewart Avenue SW brought prompted the always generous David Henderson to send along a scan of another vintage postcard for the restaurant, which can be seen below.     (Google map)

David writes:  "This postcard shows a slightly better view of that bizarre plaster tree in the middle of the place.  The dining room was decorated to look like you were in the middle of an old western town.  Above the booths were fake roof lines that said "post office," "general store," etc.  All of those decorations remained (and were tackily embellished) when the J - D Steak Ranch closed and La Fiesta, a Mexican restaurant, opened a short time later, in the late 70s.  The La Fiesta management embellished the plaster tree with piņatas, lights, and a stuffed squirrel playing a small harp!  Our family went there once a week for years and years.  La Fiesta had one of the first Space Invaders games I ever saw in Atlanta."
