Here's a postcard of a long-gone southern cooking favorite, the Rio Vista restaurant on Moreland Avenue, just a bit south of I-285. Their catfish and hushpuppies were legendary and still remembered by many with great fondness today. All together there were several Rio Vista restaurants spread out across town. I know there was also one on Memorial Drive and another in Cobb County and perhaps a couple more as well. The postcard below features a mid-50s picture of the original Moreland Avenue location of Rio Vista at 3226 Moreland Avenue. By the early 60s, the Rio Vista had moved to the other side of the road at 3450 Moreland, where they stayed until going out of business in approximately 2007. Scroll down to see a picture of the sign taken at the second location a few months before they closed up shop. After the Rio Vista moved out of the building seen on the postcard below, another fried fish house, the Catfish King opened in this space.
