This undated postcard shows the Sears building at 675 Ponce de Leon Avenue. It opened in 1926 and served for many years as both a warehouse and a retail store. The store closed in 1979 and I think it was used for a while after that as warehouse space before housing Atlanta City Hall offices throughout much of the 1990s. Currently, the building is known as Ponce City Market and is nearing the end of a massive redevelopment that will result in apartments, restaurants and retail space. Lower photo, December, 2013.
