From a promotional brochure for
the project, here's an artist's conception painting of the
Atlanta Cabana Motel, located at 870 Peachtree Street between
the years 1958 and 2002. It turned out to be quite close
to how the finished building looked, as you can see if you click
the "Next Photo" link in the upper right hand corner.
The brochure described the Cabana's deluxe and exotic
accommodations. "There are three major motifs in the
rooms: Italian provincial, French provincial, and in some, an
Oriental mandarin influence. Major luxury items within the
baths include vanitories and colored fixtures. In the
rooms are chaise lounges, handsome furniture, wall-to-wall
all-wool carpeting (3 miles of it throughout), mirrored walls
and many individual decorative features and color schemes.
There are two hundred and one guest rooms in five spacious
stories. Each of these distinctive rooms is designed with
you in mind, to make your stay here a truly memorable one.
The swimming pool, the most beautiful and modern in the south,
is generous in size, classic in design, and modern in its
appointments. The water is temperature-controlled and has
sub-surface lights and music. Bathers may enjoy poolside
dining. The keynote throughout is quiet, lavish luxury."
