883 Dill Avenue
Date: 05/19/04 Apparently this building has not served as a grocery store in quite some time. On a recent visit, the woman at the counter told me that she moved into the neighborhood in the late 1960's and that she had no memory of it ever being a grocery store. If you're in the neighborhood, the D&M Variety store is worth checking out for the several crates of LP's and a few stacks of 45's, not to mention a decent selection of used videos. For only $3, my buddy picked up a vhs copy of Rudy Ray Moore's insanely action-packed 1975 film Dolemite. Also worth a mention is the soul food restaurant across the street. I have not yet eaten there, but what a great sign! |
