This 45rpm record, released on the Astor label, literally sings the praises of the Silver Comet train, which moved passengers (and later freight) between Birmingham and New York, with stops along the way in Atlanta, Raleigh, Richmond and Washington, DC.  The train ran from 1947 until it was discontinued in 1969. 

The abandoned rail line was converted into the Silver Comet Trail, which extends from Smyrna west to the Alabama state line.  At the state line, the trail becomes known as the Chief Ladiga Trail and continues westward to Anniston, Alabama.
