Peachtree Street, looking south toward Sixth Street, as seen at some point in the 1940s.  On the left is a Texaco service station and across the street from it, at the NE corner, is a sign for a Standard Oil station.  Both have been gone for several decades now.  The large brick building on the right is the Peachtree Manor Hotel, which still stands and is now a condo complex.  Beyond that is the steeple for the First Baptist Church, which was demolished in 1999.  In the distance, in both photos, is the very recognizable Ponce de Leon Apartments building, standing over the Peachtree / Ponce de Leon intersection since 1913.  Top photo courtesy of the Ga.
