Cofer Brother's, Lithonia,
DeKalb County, Georgia. Cofer Bro's was located at the
corner of Main and Stone Mountain Streets.
Top: 1940s. Image dek339-85 from the
Vanishing
Georgia archives.
Bottom: April 2009. You'll notice that Stone
Mountain St., which runs off to the left in the top photo, is
now part of an empty parking lot. Much of downtown Lithonia
was demolished in the early 1970s to make way for a
suburban-style shopping center which now is mostly empty and
nearly derelict. Luckily the buildings on Main Street were
spared.
