Perhaps the most surprising thing about
comparing these 2 photos is seeing the area that is now
the Buckhead Triangle Park (which is directly behind the
gray SUV in the 2004 photo) was commercially
developed property in the 1950's. The park was
created between 1973 and 1975 with a grant from Coke
bigwig Robert Woodruff.
According to this Buckhead oriented website, designers are exploring the idea of extending the park to the east, across Peachtree Street and converting some commercial space to park space and rerouting Peachtree Road either to the east of the expanded park or through a tunnel beneath the park!
