The Bank Note was a club in
Underground Atlanta when this ad was published in May of
1970. If I really wanted to be obnoxious, I
suppose I could provide life size close ups of those
dorky dudes in the Dick Drew Trio. Although, it's
probably worth keeping in mind that from a 1970
perspective those dudes were happenin' cats and as such
were widely emulated.
A reader writes "Dick later had "Dick Drew's Music Store," a nightclub at 13th and W. Peachtree for maybe 5 years. He had a decent following and played good jazz in a cool atmosphere. The building stands empty now--a Mexican green monstrosity that has somehow dodged the wrecking ball." He's right. It's quite a monstrosity. Check out the photo here. Date: 1970 |
