This undated postcard, probably
from the 1950s or thereabouts, shows the swanky interior of the
Ship Ahoy restaurant after they moved away from the nautical
approach seen on this
postcard. The Ship Ahoy, according to the back of
the card seen here, had a capacity of 400, so it was obviously
pretty spacious.
If you scroll down, in addition to seeing the back of the card,
you'll find a few supplemental items, which include a 1961 ad
for the restaurant, which at the time was featuring Tillie
McNeill on the piano, and a 1956 photo of Luckie Street, which
shows the Ship Ahoy's exterior and eye-catching sign. The
1956 photo appears here courtesy of the Ga. State University
Library Archives, file #N05-079a.
