Swift Meats on Peters Street in the Castleberry Hill district just south of downtown. Date: 1951 According to Atlanta historian Franklin M Garrett, the area that is now Castleberry Hill was known as Snake Nation in the 1840's and was characterized by a wide assortment of criminal behavior: prostitution, thievery, cockfighting, and general lawlessness.
