Georgian Terrace Hotel at 659 Peachtree Street. The staircase at the street corner is now gone and the balcony railing goes all the way around. The Georgian Terrace, which opened in 1911, is perhaps most famous for hosting the premier party of Gone With the Wind in 1939. From the Georgian Terrace website: "In 1981, The Georgian Terrace closed its doors for the first time and was on the verge of being demolished but a successful grass roots effort had the property declared an "historic landmark" by the National Park Service and placed on National Register of Historic Places, ensuring its preservation. Since 1986, the property has undergone many changes, including the addition of 19-story wing in 1991 and a six-year period as luxury apartment residences, returning once again to operate as a hotel in 1997." The broadcasting studios of WAKE 1340AM were in the basement of this building. Old Postcard of the Georgian Terrace Date: 1956
