Peachtree Street looking north toward the former Winecoff Hotel (176 Peachtree Street) which was operating as the Peachtree On Peachtree Hotel when this photo was taken.  As you probably already know, the Winecoff Hotel was the site of this country's deadliest hotel fire ever on 12/07/46.  Following the fire the hotel closed for several years, re-opening shortly before this photo was taken in December of 1951.

The Winecoff Hotel was designed by noted architect G. Lloyd Preacher.  Preacher was also the architect responsible for the design of Atlanta's City Hall, the Medical Arts Building, the Henry Grady Hotel and Bass High School in Little Five Points.
