This picture, taken taken during a garbage workers' labor strike by photographer Tom Coffin for the local underground newspaper The Great Speckled Bird, shows the view looking west along Mitchell Street toward Terminal Station, not long before the grand railroad station was demolished a couple of years later.  On the right, at 209 Mitchell, is an Atlanta footwear institution, Friedman's Shoes, in business since 1929.  The building on the left was, I think, extended at some point so that it now goes all the way to Spring Street, which we can see in the distance.  Image courtesy of the Georgia State University Library Archives.            Google map
