Heart Of Atlanta motel

Seen below is a 1964 Associated Press photo showing the Heart Of Atlanta motel, located at 255 Courtland Avenue, the spot where the Hilton Hotel now stands. As the photo's caption indicates, the Heart Of Atlanta had just lost its challenge to the public accommodations section of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. To the left of the diving board, just above the motel's roofline, a TraveLodge sign can be seen. Unlike the Heart Of Atlanta motel, the TraveLodge building is still standing. It can be seen by clicking the "Next Photo" link above.

And what's the deal with that insanely high diving board? It must be at least 35 feet high and was clearly built without concern for future liability lawsuits!
