Here's an early 1970s postcard showing the north side of the downtown as it gives way to Midtown. I don't have a precise date for this photo, but 1973 is probably a pretty reasonable guess. The Stouffer's Inn hotel at the center of the picture opened in 1972 if I'm not mistaken. If passionate (and anonymous) fans of Elvis Presley can be believed, Elvis stayed at Stouffer's while doing shows at the nearby Omni Coliseum.
The hotel's still there, but it's been a long time since it's carried the Stouffer's name. In 2010, it was converted from a Marriott Renaissance property into the Melia Hotel. Thumbnails of many more aerial view photos can be found here.
