Atlanta Municipal Auditorium at the intersection of Courtland Street and Gilmer Street, adjacent to Hurt Park. Throughout the 1950's this was the site of weekly wrestling matches held each Friday night. By the late 1960's, the auditorium had become a reliable venue for catching touring rock acts: The Who, Pink Floyd, The Allman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, Frank Zappa, Little Feat, and Black Sabbath, among many others, all played shows here. Click here for some vintage ads. This building now houses Georgia State University's Alumni Hall. Date: No date listed GSU FILE: LBGPF3-046a |
